Week 7- Common issues faced installing Windows 10
Installing a new operating system, even an update or upgrade within the Windows 10 family, can lead to various issues. Here are some common problems encountered during the installation process, along with their potential causes:
1. Compatibility Issues
-Hardware Requirements: The new OS may have different hardware requirements that your system does not meet. For instance, insufficient RAM, inadequate disk space, or outdated processors can prevent a successful installation.
-Software Compatibility: Some applications or drivers might not be compatible with the newer version of Windows, leading to installation failures or post-installation issues.
2. Driver Problems
-Outdated Drivers: If the drivers for critical components (graphics, network, etc.) are outdated, they may cause conflicts during the installation process.
-Missing Drivers: Some devices may not have drivers available for the new operating system, which can lead to functionality issues after installation.
3. Corrupted Installation Media
-Damaged Files: If the installation media(USB drive or DVD) is corrupted or damaged, it can lead to installation errors. This can happen due to incomplete downloads or physical damage to the media.
-Improper Creation: If the installation media was not created properly (using incorrect tools or methods), it may lead to issues during the installation.
4. Insufficient Disk Space
-Lack of Space: The installation process requires a certain amount of free disk space to unpack files and create temporary installation files. If the drive is nearly full, it can cause the installation to fail.
-Partition Issues: Incorrect partitioning or formatting of the drive can lead to installation failures. This includes trying to install the OS on an incompatible partition type.
